Bella Medspa BOTOX Injections
September 1, 2010 on 8:46 am | In BOTOX, Uncategorized | No CommentsDO YOUR FOREHEAD WRINKLES MAKE YOU LOOK ANGRY OR WORRIED?
A persistent angry or worried look can be caused by knitting the brows or pulling the eyebrows together when we concentrate, frown, or focus. Fortunately, this condition can easily be remedied with Botulinum Toxin A in the form of Botox. The goal is to relax the muscles that work to create our angry or worried expressions. Too much relaxation of too many facial muscles is not a good thing, but relaxing certain overworked facial muscles allows us to look rested and more contented.
As enhancement to your botox results, consider fillers for fixed lines and wrinkles. Juvederm and Restylane may be used to reduce the appearance of static lines acquired as a result of age and harmful environmental factors. These fillers successfully replenish bony structures and add volume to withered lips and deflated smiles.
Some of the Many Benefits of Botox:
- BOTOX weakens the muscles responsible for squinting and crinkling of the eye area, effectively reducing or eliminating crow’s feet and other wrinkles around the eyes.
- Botox removes wrinkles from the area between the eyes dramatically changing a person’s appearance from one of continual anger or sadness to one of contentment and rejuvenation.
- Botox can be used to relax overworked facial muscles that have formed permanent creases in the skin, resulting in smoother skin and fewer wrinkles.
- Patients with oversized masseter muscles, the muscles of the jaw used for chewing, can be treated with BOTOX injections to reduce the size of the masseter muscles, resulting in a gently curved cheek and jaw.
- The benefits of BOTOX injections are not limited to aesthetics. The FDA originally approved BOTOX for several non-cosmetic treatments, including blepharospasm, a condition in which the eyes twitch uncontrollably, migraine headaches, and excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Bella Medspa Microdermabrasion Philadelphia
August 23, 2010 on 2:33 pm | In Microdermabrasion, Skin rejuvenation, Uncategorized | No CommentsWhat can it do for you?
Beauty is not really quite the mystery we might think it is. There are some distinct hallmarks of young vibrant skin—clear, smooth, even-toned and fresh are words which describe youthful beautiful skin.
Likewise, there are some specific conditions present in aging skin that makes it appear dull. Age spots fine feathery lines and enlarged pores all contribute to an overall aged appearance. You might not have thought enough about it to notice these specific conditions in your skin, but if you are feeling like your skin is starting to show your age, chances are this is some of what you are seeing.
In addition, aging skin just doesn’t reflect light the way young skin does and that gradually fading radiance can make us look less vibrant than we actually feel. This is simply no way for an energetic, mature man or woman with plenty (or more than ever) to offer to feel!
Microdermabrasion treatments enhance our skin’s natural youthfulness by correcting the specific conditions that cause us to look aged. It is a simple process of passing a wand tipped with finely crushed diamonds (yes, diamonds!) over your skin. Combined with a gentle suction, the treatment sloughs off the dead dull surface layers of the skin—something our aging skin simply cannot do efficiently by itself.
This, in and of itself, will reveal more radiant skin hiding just under the surface, however, the abrading action which occurs during the treatment actually prompts our skin into action: an increase in collagen production occurs triggering an overall rejuvenation.
Microdermabrasion treatments are a great way to get started on a regimen of protecting and correcting your skin for a vibrant, healthy and beautiful appearance. Take the first step and schedule a consultation.

Anti Aging Skin Rejuvenation with Microdermabrasion
August 9, 2010 on 11:03 am | In Microdermabrasion, Skin rejuvenation | No CommentsWhat can be done about my dull and tired skin?
Believe it or not, today’s leading anti aging treatments date back to the illustrious Cleopatra. During her day, sandpaper and food acids were used to peel away the top layers of skin in order to uncover new, healthy skin cells and lightened scars. Rest assured treatment has come a long way.
Currently, microdermabrasion offers the most advanced dermabrasion treatment on the market. Specifically, the innovative DiamondTome improves wrinkles, skin texture and color, without inflicting the slightest pain or requiring even minimal downtime. Made of surgical grade stainless steel, these diamond-tipped wands come in a variety of sizes, allowing for individualized care of every patient and every skincare concern.
The diamond-tipped wand abrades against the top layer of skin (epidermis), loosening and extracting worn and weathered older skin cells. The loosened skin is then conveniently vacuumed away and deposited onto a small disposable filter.
Chemical face peels have also undergone significant advancements over past millennia. Instead of food acid, today’s peel is clinically devised and available in varied strengths allowing for treatment at different layers of the skin’s surface. Upon application, the chemical peel begins to affect the top layer of skin so that old cells are exfoliated and new skin is exposed.
The new skin is smoother, less wrinkled, and more uniform in color. The strength of the peel will determine the amount of change observed in the skin. Light chemical peels improve acne scars and skin texture, and reduce the effects of sun damage.
The medium chemical peel also improves acne, while smoothing fine surface wrinkles and correcting pigment problems such as age spots. The deep chemical peel helps treat sun-damaged skin, eliminate deep, coarse wrinkles, and eradicate pre-cancerous growths.
Combined, or on their own, microdermabrasion and chemical face peels provide the solution for many people looking to simply improve their skin without surgery or a facelift. Aging and sun-damaged skin may develop redness, blemishes, facial veins and pigment, deep wrinkles, cancerous or precancerous lesions or spotting. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels can effectively address each of these common concerns.
Bella Medspa offers the following industry leading chemical peel options from SkinMedica: Vitalize, Illuminize, and Rejuvenize, as well as, the innovative iS Clinical Peels.

Be Bikini Ready without the Concern of Unsuspecting Hairs
July 27, 2010 on 1:04 pm | In laser hair removal | No Comments“How,” you ask. With Laser Hair Removal! During these relatively short and painless treatments, light energy is directed into the hair follicles of a particular area of the body, destroying their capacity to grow hair. Due to the life cycle of a hair follicle, total annihilation with a single treatment is impossible.
Hair follicles are most susceptible to the laser during their most active growth phase, which differs for each hair. For this reason, we recommend a package of six treatments spaced six weeks apart. These intervals allow for each hair, at some point over the course of treatments, to reach that crucial point when it is most vulnerable to the effects of the laser.
Clinical studies show that lasers are able to permanently eliminate about 20% of the hair follicles with each treatment session. This means that even if you complete only one treatment of a particular area of your body, you should see a permanent reduction of hair growth in that area.
Of course, most people prefer a more significant reduction of 90 to 100%, requiring that they complete several treatment sessions. For most fair to medium skinned individuals with dark hair follicles, this means 4 to 6 treatments.
Medium to dark skinned individuals will most likely require more treatments due to the increased pigmentation of their skin and hair. As the light is absorbed by the pigmentation in the hair and skin, it is converted into heat energy.
This means, the greater the pigmentation the greater the heat and potential discomfort. So, for comfort and safety’s sake, medium to dark skinned individuals will be treated in a slower, gentler fashion.
Though widely known as the go-to solution for stray bikini hairs, Laser Hair Removal actually provides the solution to many hair quandaries. In fact, facial hair removal, specifically of the chin and lip, is the number one requested treatment of women.
Even better, there’s no need to grow out the hair for effective treatment. From treatment one, you will feel a dramatic difference and realize that you’re closer than ever to the smooth, silky skin you desire.
Chemical Peel Philadelphia
July 21, 2010 on 11:06 am | In Chemical Peel | No CommentsMany factors can give your face that worn, haggard and aged look. Everyday elements such as the air we breathe, the sun and, of course, Father Time can have a harmful, damaging effect on your facial skin. However your wrinkled face may no longer be a life sentence with the advancement of facial rejuvenation products and treatments, especially chemical peels.
In addition to reducing wrinkles, chemical peels can help reduce fine lines near your mouth and eyes, improve mild scarring, treat certain types of acne and even reduce facial spotting and freckles. In other words, give you a smoother, more glowing face.
The procedure uses a chemical solution that creates a layer of dead skin that eventually is peeled off, thus giving the treatment its name. The end result is a smoother, less wrinkled facial texture not to mention the boost it will give you in appearance and self confidence.
If you’ve been considering a chemical peel, you’re probably wondering what your options are. There are several types and the right treatment depends on your facial concerns as well as your desired result. The mildest procedure if you’re looking to treat minor facial flaws is an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) peel which uses naturally occurring organic acids which are found in fruits or milk.
A trichloracetic acid peel is another treatment commonly used but for deeper peeling than the AHA type. The depth of the facial skin penetration depends on the concentration used.
The other most common chemical peel you may consider is a phenol treatment. This procedure uses the strongest chemicals, removing facial skin the deepest. If your problems are coarse facial skin and wrinkles or embarrassing blotchy areas, then you may opt for the phenol route. In comparison to the other types of chemical peels, a phenol peel provides the longest lasting effects and, in many cases, a single treatment is sufficient. The concerns you may have when considering this option are the extended recovery time in comparison to the less evasive procedures as well as a health risk if you’ve had a history of heart problems.
If you have facial concerns like most of us do, a chemical peel might be just what the doctor ordered.
Laser Hair Removal for Men
July 18, 2010 on 10:24 am | In laser hair removal | No CommentsGone, is the harried morning shaving routine; the patchwork mending of nicks and scrapes; the you-missed-a-spot; and the “oh, are you growing a beard?”
Not surprising, men accounted for 174,419 of the laser hair removal procedures performed in America in 2008. Like women, men grow tired of having to constantly shave. Unlike women, men are not much into depilatories (creams & gels), plucking, waxing or tweezing. These methods tend to be too costly and time consuming.
Alternatively, laser hair removal allows for nearly effortless permanent hair reduction of the:
- Face, including the chin, upper lip and ear lobes
- Neck, back and shoulders
- Chest
- Arms, including under arms, legs and hands
- Pubic area
